LAHORE, Jan 30 (APP): National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has taken comprehensive measures to ensure uninterrupted power transmission in Lahore during the Basant festival from February 6 to 8, 2026.
The company’s spokesman told media here Friday that NGC management has issued necessary directives to ensure swift response to any untoward incident during the festivities.
In light of the directions issued by DMD (AD&M), Engr. Rasheed A. Bhutto, NGC’s emergency response teams will remain fully prepared and available round the clock. The availability of technical staff, vehicles and safety equipment will be ensured at all times, while transmission lines and grid stations in Lahore will be closely monitored to promptly address any technical issues.
NGC Managing Director Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik stated that Punjab government has permitted Basant celebrations under strict rules and regulations. He added that Basant is a festival of joy and recreation, and appealed to the public to strictly follow SOPs during the festivity to safeguard their lives, property and national assets and to refrain from any activity that could damage the power transmission system or grid stations.
He further assured that National Grid Company will ensure uninterrupted power transmission system in Lahore and surrounding areas during Basant. The public is urged to take care of their own and others’ lives & property, and to ensure the protection of national installations while celebrating Basant.
