LAHORE,Jan 30 (APP):Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday killed six highly dangerous terrorists during an intelligence-based operation near Chapri Dam in the Chapri area of Mianwali.
According to a CTD spokesperson,the department had received credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area,who had completed planning to carry out attacks on police and other state institutions.
Acting on the information,CTD teams launched a targeted operation.
During the operation,the terrorists opened fire on CTD personnel,who retaliated promptly.
In the ensuing exchange of fire,six terrorists were killed, while eight others managed to escape from the scene.
The spokesperson said that CTD recovered a large cache of arms and explosives from the possession of the killed terrorists,including explosives,one suicide jacket,six sub-machine guns (SMGs),three hand grenades and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.
The spokesperson added that the process of identification of the killed terrorists was underway,while a search operation had been launched to arrest the fleeing militants.
