HAVELIAN, Jan 30 (APP):The tender for construction of Ayub Bridge has been issued with the support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking a major step toward restoring a key link damaged during the 2025 floods.
According to Pakistan Muslim League (N) KP General Secretary and Former federal minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi, survey work for an alternative route will begin from today, while construction activities are expected to start after a formal inauguration in the coming days.
Abbasi said that once the second cost estimate is finalized, full-scale work on the bridge and the adjoining road infrastructure will commence. He described the project as an important step toward public welfare and reiterated that Pakistan Muslim League (N) remains committed to resolving public issues and serving the people, whether in government or in opposition.
The old Ayub Bridge had suffered severe damage in the 2025 floods, with three of its spans badly affected. Although initial plans focused on repairing the damaged portions, the federal government approved the construction of a completely new bridge in response to public demand.
The new bridge will be 280 meters long and will include six spans of 40 meters each and two spans of 20 meters each, along with 800 meters of approach roads. The project’s official completion period is 12 months; however, the leadership has expressed confidence that the work will be completed within nine months.
