On the first day, Head of Riphah Institute of Media Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Riaz, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of radio in society. Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, Professor Dr. Anees Ahmad, said that radio continues to play a vital role even in the digital age. He noted that many young people believe radio has lost its relevance, which is not true. Radio still has a powerful voice; however, its role is rapidly evolving with time. Therefore, media students must prepare themselves in accordance with innovation, ethics, and contemporary requirements.
On this occasion, Station Director Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi, Muhammad Atif, said that the purpose of the two-day workshop was to enable students to independently produce complete media content. He also expressed Radio Pakistan’s commitment to continuing such training opportunities in the future.
During the initial sessions, practical guidance was provided on radio programming, voice modulation, sound design, and producing effective content for digital audiences. Program Manager Radio Pakistan, Muhammad Karim Ahmed, shared his professional experiences and conducted a detailed session on emerging trends in radio.
The second day focused on video and visual storytelling, particularly content creation for mobile phones and social media platforms. Senior Producer Pakistan Television Lahore, Dr. Farhan Mushtaq, trained students in video framing, scriptwriting, and aligning television content with digital media requirements, while also imparting skills for creating impactful stories with limited resources.
Throughout the workshop, students actively participated in question-and-answer sessions, practical exercises, and real media case studies. The sessions also covered topics such as enhancing creativity, ethics of storytelling, capturing audience attention, and effectively presenting the same content across multiple platforms.
