ECP upholds Sadaf Ihsan’s NA seat, rejects petition

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the women’s reserved National Assembly seat occupied by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam lawmaker Sadaf Ihsan.

The plea, filed by a JUI-P leader Hina Bibi, sought Ihsan’s de-notification on the grounds that her name was not included in the party’s priority list for reserved seats.

Rejecting the contention, the commission upheld Ihsan’s membership, while noting that the petitioner retains the right to appeal before the Election Tribunal.

With the ruling, Sadaf Ihsan will continue to serve as a Member of the National Assembly.
