LAHORE, Jan 28 (APP):The Punjab University Department of Student Affairs’ Pioneers’ Debating Society (PU DSA) successfully organized a two-day All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest.
The competition brought together 25 teams and 65 speakers representing premier institutions across the country, including Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore, King Edward Medical University Lahore, and Government College University Lahore.
The closing ceremony, held here on Wednesday, was attended by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Director DSA Dr Shahzeb Khan, faculty members, and a large audience of students.
In his address, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized that the role of teachers extends beyond the classroom and stressed that active participation in both curricular and co-curricular activities is essential for nurturing responsible and well-rounded citizens. He underscored the significance of student societies in discovering and honing latent talents and highlighted PU’s commitment to fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating campus environment.
Prof Dr Muhammad Ali also commended Director DSA Dr Shahzeb Khan and his team for successfully organizing the event after such a long interval.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shahzeb Khan praised the exceptional talent of PU students, noting their achievements across diverse fields, and reaffirmed the department’s dedication to promoting constructive and enriching student activities.
Participants lauded the two-day contest as a landmark institutional achievement and expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue in the future.
The Urdu panel of judges included Hamza Tarar, Wahab Ahmed Jamal, Hamza Mustafa, Syed Israr-ul-Hassan, Huzaifa Anwar, Yasir Rashid, Maj Dr Atif Ali, and Muhammad Haris Ashfaq. The English panel comprised Fahad Ali Kazmi, Dr Sharay Qazi, Rameesha Khan, Muhammad Sibtain Raza, Moazam Khan Lodhi, Hina Atif, Amaaz Shabir, and Isha Fatima Tarar.
At the conclusion of the final round, Government College University Lahore was awarded the team trophy for outstanding performance.
