ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP):Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Gates Foundation, led by Dr. Chris Elias, President of Global Development.
The meeting included a detailed discussion on the steps taken so far and the progress made towards the eradication of polio.
Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized Pakistan’s strong commitment to eradicating polio under the leadership of the Prime Minister, stating, “Polio eradication is a national priority, and the Government of Pakistan is ensuring the implementation of all necessary measures to achieve this goal.”
Highlighting the country’s recent achievements, the Minister noted, “Pakistan has made significant progress in polio eradication efforts over the past year. A coordinated and effective strategy has been implemented nationwide to ensure the success of vaccination campaigns, with special focus on high-risk areas, particularly in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
Minister Kamal also added, “I personally monitor the polio program, visit high-risk areas, and coordinate closely with provincial governments to ensure integrated efforts.”
Dr. Chris Elias, Chairman of the Polio Oversight Board, commended Pakistan’s ongoing efforts and reaffirmed continued global collaboration in the fight against polio.
On the occasion, the Federal Minister highlighted the need for intensified focus and coordinated measures in Karachi and Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, assuring that Pakistan will fulfill its national responsibility and provide the necessary financial resources.
