PESHAWAR, Jan 27 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has restored the membership of two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly members after they submitted their statements of assets and liabilities for the financial year 2024–25, in compliance with the Elections Act, 2017.
According to an official notification, KP Assembly members Samiullah Khan (PK-76 Peshawar-V) and Muhammad Sajjad (PK-98 Karak-II) had earlier been ordered to cease functioning as members of the provincial assembly on January 16, 2026, for failing to submit their annual asset declarations by the prescribed deadline of December 31.
The ECP stated that both members have now fulfilled the legal requirement under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017, by submitting complete statements of assets and liabilities, including those of their spouses and dependent children.
Following compliance, the Election Commission, exercising its powers under the law, has reinstated their membership of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with immediate effect.
