LAHORE, Sep 27 (APP):Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Dr Muhammad Farogh Naseem has said that
financial independence of bar councils and bar associations is of high importance.
He said this, while addressing a function of the Punjab Bar Council at a local hotel, Thursday.
The minister said, “Efforts are being made to come up with a strategy so that there are funds for bar councils and bar associations, which can be disbursed among them within specified time period.”
He said efforts were under way to ensure that civil trial gets completed in one year or 15 months through civil reform.
Farogh Naseem said that all lawyers were welcome to share ideas with him so that things could be improved more efficiently.
He said that capacity building of lawyers was part of the reforms and by improving competence, betterment would be brought in the justice system at large.
The law minister said, “Corruption is the biggest evil and it could not be tolerated in a Muslim society.”
Advocate General Punjab Ahmed Awais said that lawyers would have to play their role for bringing betterment in the country.
Earlier, Punjab Bar Council (PBC) Chairman Executive Committee Bushra Qamar highlighted the problems which the lawyer community was facing and demanded the minister to help solve their problems. PBC Vice Chairman Jam Muhammad Younis and others also spoke on the occasion.
