RAWALPINDI, Jan 27 (APP):The Communication Team of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) on Tuesday organised a cleanliness awareness campaign at the Fruit and Vegetable Market in Shamsabad to strengthen waste management practices and promote public cooperation.
According to the RWMC spokesman, the team briefed shopkeepers on proper waste disposal, urging them to use designated containers instead of dumping refuse on roads and in drains to help maintain a clean and healthy environment. Buyers were also encouraged to dispose of litter responsibly after shopping.
Information pamphlets outlining cleanliness principles, correct disposal methods and complaint procedures were distributed during the campaign. Citizens were informed that waste-related issues could be reported directly to RWMC through its complaint system.
The spokesperson said cleanliness was “not the sole responsibility of any institution but a shared duty of citizens, shopkeepers and buyers,” adding that similar awareness campaigns would continue to ensure a cleaner and healthier city.
