ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP):Islamabad Food Authority (IFA), in collaboration with the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), destroyed 4,000 litres of chemically adulterated milk during a joint operation carried out in the Pandorian area of Khanna police station limits.
An IFA official told APP on Monday that the operation was conducted on the directions of Deputy Director IFA Dr Inam Fatima to curb the sale of unsafe and substandard food items.
He said that during the inspection, 4,000 litres of milk were checked and found unfit for human consumption due to the presence of harmful chemical powder. The adulterated milk was seized and destroyed on the spot, while the chemical powder used in the adulteration was also completely disposed of.
The official added that one accused was arrested during the operation, while efforts are under way to arrest the main suspect/owner. Police action has been initiated in this regard, and the suspect will be brought to justice soon.
The food authorities reiterated that indiscriminate action will continue under a zero-tolerance policy against those playing with public health, stressing that no compromise will be made on the safety of consumers.
