ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP):The Pakistan Post is set to be fully digitalized by January 2027 as part of a major reform initiative aimed at modernising postal services nationwide and aligning them with international standards.
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the Ministry of Communications has launched the Automation of Post Office Project, which is being financed by the Export-Import Bank of Korea. The project focuses on transforming Pakistan Post’s largely manual operations into a fully digital, integrated system.
The document states that the project’s core scope includes the supply of modern IT terminals and specialized software, comprehensive training of postal staff, and the provision of operational and maintenance support. Upon completion, Pakistan Post is expected to achieve end-to-end digitalisation across its operations.
A senior Pakistan Post official told Wealth Pakistan that the digital overhaul will significantly strengthen the organization’s core functions, including mail management, financial services, parcel tracking, and internal administration. The new system is designed to enable real-time processing, improve service efficiency, and enhance transparency across the postal network.
The transformation is also expected to reduce service delays and minimize manual errors by replacing outdated paper-based procedures with automated workflows.
The official said the digitalisation initiative is expected to expand Pakistan Post’s role in e-commerce logistics, financial inclusion, and government-to-citizen services, particularly in remote and underserved areas where access to digital services remains limited.
He said under the project, all post offices across the country will be equipped with modern IT infrastructure, including computer terminals, secure connectivity, and centralized systems to support real-time data sharing and transaction processing.
By modernising its operations, Pakistan Post aims to restore public confidence, diversify revenue streams, and reposition itself as a reliable national institution capable of meeting the evolving demands of citizens and businesses while operating in line with global postal standards.
