ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP):Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is organizing its first International Conference titled “Frontiers in Science (ICFS 2026)” on February 2–3, 2026, here at its main campus.
The central theme of the conference is “Bridging Disciplines toward a Sustainable Future.” The objective is to bring together diverse scientific disciplines on a common academic platform, promote interdisciplinary research, and align modern scientific knowledge with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The international conference is being organized under the auspices of the University’s Faculty of Sciences. The Vice Chancellor of AIOU, Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood will be the chief guest at the inaugural session and will highlight the aims and objectives of the conference.
According to Conference Secretary Dr Saima Qadeer, the two-day conference will include keynote speeches by eminent national and international scientists, thematic sessions, research paper presentations and policy dialogues. These activities aim to strengthen the connection between science and society, highlight recent scientific advancements, empower young researchers and innovators and promote global academic and research collaborations.
She further stated that the conference will serve as an effective academic forum for researchers, faculty members, students and policymakers, offering new directions for collective scientific efforts toward a sustainable future.
It is noteworthy that this international conference is part of the ongoing academic and research initiatives at AIOU aimed at promoting education and research, to develop the University into a hub of world-class research and academic collaboration.
