MANSEHRA, Jan 26 (APP):A young resident of Dhodial on Monday lost his life due to suffocation caused by poisonous gas, taking the death toll from gas-related incidents in the Hazara region to ten amid the ongoing cold wave.
According to details, the deceased has been identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Sultan, had gone to Mansehra to attend his grandfather’s funeral. During the night, he slept in a room along with his cousins after burning coal for warmth.
As a result, toxic fumes accumulated in the room, leading to suffocation. Muhammad Ibrahim died on the spot, while the other children fell unconscious and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The deceased was a second-year student.
As a severe cold wave continues to grip the Hazara region, concerns are growing that the number of deaths caused by gas suffocation and unsafe heating practices may further increase. Authorities have urged the public to adopt precautionary measures while using heaters and coal in closed spaces to avoid such tragic incidents.
