QUETTA, Jan 25 (APP): The Regional Meteorological Center Balochistan has forecast widespread rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall across various districts of the province from today evening through Tuesday.
According to the advisory, light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected Sunday evening and night in Coastal areas of Gwadar (Jiwani, Gwadar, Pasni), Kech (Turbat), Chagai (Taftan, Nokundi, Dalbandin), Panjgur, Khuzdar, Kharan, Noshki, and Washuk.
The system is expected to intensify after midnight, spreading across central, western, and northern Balochistan. On Monday, moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds is likely in Gwadar (Jiwani, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara), Khuzdar, Kech, Chagai, Panjgur, Kalat, Washuk, Surab, Quetta, Zhob, Mastung, Kharan, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Loralai (Musakhel), and Awaran
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Gwadar, Khuzdar, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, and Kech, raising the risk of flash floods in urban streams and hilly regions.
The PMD has predicted light to moderate snowfall with strong winds from Monday to Tuesday in Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Chaman, Pishin, Hurmzai, Khanozai, Kan Mehtarzai, Muslim Bagh, Loi Band, Qila Abdullah, and Gulistan.
Authorities have cautioned that snowfall may cause slippery road conditions, potentially disrupting traffic in mountainous areas.
Relevant departments and local administrations have been advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures to minimize risks.
Residents, particularly those in flood-prone and high-altitude regions, have been urged to exercise caution and stay updated on further weather advisories.
The report also noted that severe cold weather prevailed in northern and northwestern districts over the past 24 hours, with Kalat recording the lowest temperature at minus 8°C, making it the coldest spot in Balochistan.
