LAHORE, Jan 24 (APP):Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Pakistan Ms Irena Genadieva Gancheva called on Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan here on Saturday.
The meeting focused on further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bulgaria. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the existing friendly and cordial relations between the two countries.
The speaker highlighted Pakistan’s strong desire to expand economic and parliamentary cooperation with Bulgaria, noting that significant opportunities exist for collaboration in trade and investment. Malik Ahmad Khan stated “Pakistan’s foreign policy is anchored in dialogue, peace, and constructive engagement at the global level.”
He stressed the importance of enhancing contacts between the business communities of both countries to fully realize their economic potential. The speaker further highlighted that exchanges of parliamentary, cultural, and educational delegations would contribute to deepening mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral ties.
He underscored the vital role of national news agencies in promoting democratic values and described the cooperation agreement between Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and the Bulgarian News Agency as a positive and encouraging development.
He said, “Pakistan-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly is actively working to promote parliamentary engagement between the two countries.” Highlighting Punjab’s economic potential, the speaker said that the province offers vast investment opportunities in key sectors including agriculture, textiles, and information technology.
He stated that educational and human resource exchanges would particularly benefit the youth, while tourism and cultural cooperation could serve as effective instruments for enhancing people-to-people contacts.
The Bulgarian ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and welcomed initiatives aimed at promoting people-to-people exchanges. She stated that Bulgarian investors were keenly interested in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan and emphasized that stronger parliamentary relations were in the mutual interest of both nations.
