PESHAWAR, Jan 24 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on the 3rd of Sha‘ban attended a ceremony marking the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (RA), held in Chakri here on Saturday.
The ceremony hosted by Farrukh Raza Chaudhry, on the occasion, the Governor had the honour of unveiling the sacred flag brought from the Shrine of Imam Hussain (RA) in Karbala.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that Imam Hussain (RA) is not merely a historical figure but a living ideology and a universal symbol of truth, justice and freedom for all humanity.
He said that Imam Hussain (RA) taught the timeless lesson that bowing before oppression is not faith; rather, standing firm on truth is the real success.
The Governor said that love for the Ahl-e-Bait (RA) is an essential part of every Muslim’s faith, and love for Imam Hussain (RA) is in fact a continuation of love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Appreciating the tradition of holding Jashn-e-Imam Hussain in Chakri, he said that in the past, the participation of delegations from the Shrine of Imam Hussain (RA) had further enhanced the spiritual significance of the gathering.
He noted that although no delegation could arrive from Karbala this year, it was a matter of great honour for him to unveil the sacred flag of the Shrine of Imam Hussain (RA). The Governor thanked the host Farrukh Raza Chaudhry, Gulzar Saqi, Ali Furqan, and other organisers and participants for arranging the event.
Concluding his address, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi spoked verses of renowned poet Josh Malihabadi and said that the message of Imam Hussain (RA) is not confined to any single sect or group, but is meant for the entire Ummah and all of humanity. He prayed that Allah Almighty grant everyone the ability to adopt the character, sacrifice and message of Imam Hussain (RA) in their practical lives.
