ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP):Murree Expressway was partially reopened on Saturday following improved weather conditions, a spokesperson for the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) said.
The spokesperson cautioned that, given changing weather patterns and rising traffic volume, the expressway could be closed again if conditions deteriorate. He advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel.
He said that during heavy snowfall, the Motorway Police performed their duties with full dedication and diligence. Traffic was managed effectively through a well-planned strategy in accordance with the prevailing situation, while concerned officers remained in the field and personally led operations.
The spokesperson further informed that more rain and snowfall are forecast in Murree and the Galiyat region on January 26 and 27.
The spokesperson urged tourists to extend full cooperation to the Motorway Police, noting that officers remain on high alert around the clock to prevent any untoward incident. He added that the force will continue to provide guidance and ensure the safety of visitors.
The spokesperson advised tourists to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130 in case of an emergency. He further urged travelers to seek guidance from the force’s official social media channels before setting out.
