Defence minister assures Sialkot business community of issues resolution

SIALKOT, Jan 23 (APP):Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has assured its all-out sincere efforts to resolve the issues faced by the Sialkot business community.
He stated this here on Friday while addressing a meeting with the business community at Sialkot Chamber of commerce and Industry (SCCI) Auditorium, here today.
The meeting was attended by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, Group Leader Sialkot Business Community Riaz-ud-Din Sheikh, President SCCI Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, Senior Vice President (SVP) SCCI Muhammad Murad Arshad, VP SCCI Salman Sheikh, former SCCI Presidents, SVPs, VPs, representative of different associations and Sialkot business community.
Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif discussed matters of mutual interest with the SCCI office-bearers in detail on Friday and assured the business community of resolution of their all genuine issues on priority basis.
The minister said that the EDF fund is the money of exporters, which should be spent for their welfare and the government has no right over these funds. Khawaja Asif said that Paakistan Musluim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had selflessly served the masses in its every tenure and mega projects had been initiated to provide basic facilities to the people. He said that whenever PML-N came to power, the country progressed.
Briefing about the development projects in Sialkot, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif said the funds have been received from last two days to shift the Sialkot lorry adda outside and this will resolve the traffic problem inside the city.
He said that the Allama Iqbal Library is being renovated at a cost of Rs. 100 million and this library will be converted into a modern library by digitalizing it
The minister added that this library was the library of the Pakistan Muslim League in the past, which over time came under the control of the district government, saying that 80 to 90 percent of the contribution to this library belongs to my father, the late Khawaja Muhammad Safdar and my late father’s personal books are also in this library as well.
Khawaja Muhammed said that I will try to make the Allama Iqbal Library a part of the park that will be built in the city.
He said that Poet of East Allama Iqbal was a benefactor of the Muslims of the subcontinent and is a benefactor of this country. He said that Pest of East Allam Iqbal will always be remembered as benefactors.
Federal Minister said that the road leading to Allama Iqbal’s house in the city center is going to be reconstructed.
He added that just like Lahore where the city roads have been reconstructed, their wiring has been made underground, parking has been eliminated and vehicles will not be able to park, similarly, the roads of Sialkot’s inner city will also be constructed that will be helpful in reducing the congestion in the city.
The minster added that a parking plaza will be constructed on the four-kanal on Railway Road Sialkot to reduce traffic in the city.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that two hundred acres of land have been allotted to Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Aimenabad Road which one is more than their actual need, I am trying to get some or most of this land allocated to government offices, judicial complex and police lines so that offices from the city can be shifted there, so that the government offices inside the city can be moved outside the city at Aimenabad Road and a park can be built on this 52 acre land inside city.
He said that the Punjab government has approved Rs. 16 billion to WASA to revamp all the city’s schemes and system.
Federal Minister said that the first phases of 16.49 kilometer ring road will be completed from Sambrial-Daska-Aimemenabad road. The funds are available and it will be approved today and its tenders will be approved in the next two months and in the second phase Aimenabad-Pasrur ring road will be constructed. The year 2029 is our target for its completion. Besides this, the target of the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway is to be completed by 2029 till Rawat.
 He said that 700-bed hospital was approved in Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital (AIMTH) Sialkot.
The minister said that illegal encroachment will be removed from the city including Nullah’s surroundings.
