CAPES, Indonesian students body sign MoU to build educational linkages

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23 (APP):The Consortium for Asia-Pacific & Eurasian Studies (CAPES) and the Indonesian Students Association Islamabad (PPMI) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote educational cooperation and strengthen people-to-people linkages between Pakistan and Indonesia.
The Indonesian Students Association Islamabad (PPMI), representing more than 300 Indonesian students enrolled in various Pakistani universities, said a press release.
Rehmat Hindiarta Kusuma, Minister Counsellor for Information, Social and Cultural at Indonesian Embassy Islamabad attended the event as the chief guest. He acknowledged the central role of CAPES in strengthening People to People contacts between Indonesia and Pakistan.
He said public diplomacy with brotherly countries like Pakistan is central to Indonesian foreign policy and events such as this compliment our long-term engagement with the country. He was of the view that building on this engagement, Indonesian embassy shall strive to connect CAPES with the Indonesian think-tanks and centers working on public diplomacy.
Chief Organizer CAPES, Sardar Bakhsh, highlighted the organization’s efforts in facilitating Indonesian students studying in Pakistan, terming youth engagement a vital tool for cementing enduring bilateral relations.
Senior Vice President CAPES, Dr. Shoaib, emphasized that bonds developed among youth tend to outlast those forged at the diplomatic level, underscoring the importance of student-centered collaboration.
Chairman Indonesian Students Association Islamabad, Muhsin Al Fatih thanked CAPES for connecting Indonesian students with the larger Pakistani society. This partnership helps Indonesian students to explore various facets of Pakistani culture to build long-lasting relations.
