MULTAN, Jan 23 (APP):The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Friday intensified its crackdown on gas theft and illegal usage, disconnecting four gas meters in its latest enforcement operation across the district.
The UFG control task force carried out extensive inspections at 60 locations in the city to ensure a safe and uninterrupted gas supply for legitimate consumers.
During the operation, two meters were disconnected for being used with compressors to illegally extract gas, violating safety and operational regulations.
Additionally, two meters that had been removed by consumers were recovered.
SNGPL officials stressed that these operations were critical not only to curb gas theft but also to improve gas pressure and ensure a continuous, reliable supply.
They warned that illegal practices significantly disrupt system performance and pose serious safety risks to the public.
Speaking on the enforcement action, the General Manager of SNGPL Multan highlighted the organization’s commitment to consumer safety.
He urged consumers to regularly check for gas leaks before use and to immediately ventilate their homes if they detect any gas odor.
In case of a gas smell,he advised opening all doors and windows and avoiding the use of any electrical or gas-powered appliances.
The General Manager also emphasized that SNGPL would continue its strict actions against gas theft and illegal activities to ensure the provision of a safe, reliable and uninterrupted gas supply for all consumers.
