ATTOCK, Jan 23 (APP):The police arrested five suspects killing a man and attempting to disguise the incident as a robbery, the police sources said on Thursday.
According to police, on the intervening night of January 15 and 16, the Sadar police received information about an alleged robbery at a house in Deh Boliyanwal area, where the family claimed to have detained an intruder.
A police team rushed to the spot and found Basharat Ali alias Shahzad lying unconscious with visible marks of severe torture. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The police shifted the body to DHQ Hospital for legal formalities and registered a case immediately.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the incident was not a robbery; instead, the accused had called Basharat Ali to the house and murdered him, later attempting to portray the crime as a robbery to conceal their involvement.
Following timely action and professional investigation, the police traced and arrested all the accused.
The arrested included Nasir and Asif, Afaq Ahmed, and two female suspects, Amrood Bibi and Alishba Afaq, the sources said
Police officials said the arrests were made on the special directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Sardar Mavarhan Khan, using modern investigative techniques and available resources.
The DPO reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy was being pursued against elements involved in heinous crimes, and that the police were committed to ensuring public safety and protection of life and property.
