DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 23 (APP):The Dera police have thwarted an attempted drug smuggling operation and recovered more than two kilograms of Ice drug from a truck during a routine check.
According to a police spokesman, the action was carried out by Darazinda Police as part of an ongoing district-wide crackdown against narcotics trafficking under the supervision of District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Abdullah Khan, set up checking at the Aman Mela check post. During the operation, police intercepted a truck bearing registration number (JU-0141) coming from Zhob.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four concealed packets hidden in secret compartments. The packets contained high-quality Ice, weighing a total of 2,031 grams.
The truck driver, identified as Sultan Muhammad son of Muhammad Fazil, a resident of Balochistan, was taken into custody. A case has been registered against him, the truck has been seized, while further investigation is underway.
