KOHAT, Jan 23 (APP):The Security forces, district police, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday successfully thwarted a major
terror plot in Kohat, saving the city from a potential large-scale disaster.
On a tip off, a joint operation was launched in the jurisdiction of MRS Police Station, where a farmhouse was raided after
reports indicated the presence of a dangerous terrorist network planning attacks in the city and surrounding areas, the police sources said.
Under the directives of Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police (IGP), Zulfiqar Hameed and Regional Police Officer Kohat, Irfan Tariq, District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shehbaz Elahi supervised the
operation. The area was cordoned off and monitored with advanced
surveillance equipment before ground forces stormed the compound.
Although the terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness, they left behind a significant cache of weapons and explosives.
The recovered items included two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), large quantities of explosive material, detonators, hand grenades, primacord, three laptops, communication devices, medical
kits, and other military-grade equipment.
All seized material had been shifted to a safe location for technical analysis by expert teams, they added.
The security across the city has been further tightened, while search operations and checkpoints continue to track down the fleeing suspects.
The authorities appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station to ensure peace and stability in the region.
