Tessori, Jam discuss trade promotion, investment opportunities

KARACHI, Jan 22 (APP):Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan called on Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori at the Governor House. They discussed measures to promote trade activities and enhance investment opportunities in the province.
According to the Governor House spokesman, State Life Chief Executive Officer Shoaib Javed Hussain, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Chief Executive Officer Faiza Ahmed, National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) Chief Executive Officer Farman Zarqoon, and TDAP Secretary Sheharyar Taj were also present during the meeting.
The governor emphasized the need to capitalize on additional tariffs imposed by the United States on India and Bangladesh by adopting timely measures to benefit Pakistan’s exports. He stressed that, besides the textile sector, investment opportunities should also be created in information technology and other emerging sectors.
Governor Tessori called for building the confidence of the business community regarding trade opportunities in Central Asian countries and reiterated the commitment to strengthening trade ties between Pakistan and Central Asian states. He underlined the importance of further enhancing linkages between Pakistani and Central Asian traders.
It was agreed that the Governor House, in collaboration with TDAP, would ensure the organization of business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-business (G2B) meetings between Asian and Pakistani traders.
The meeting also reviewed various important matters, including the promotion of commercial activities in the province. The governor stated that Karachi is the economic lifeline of Pakistan, and its development is directly linked to the country’s overall progress. He appreciated the federal government’s cooperation for the city’s economic development.
Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Karachi’s key role in national economic growth.
Later, the federal commerce minister, along with the governor, visited the historic office of Quaid-e-Azam at the Governor House. He also planted a sapling under the ongoing tree plantation campaign at the Governor House.
