PoL imports shrink by 1.26% to $7.98 bln in 1st half

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP):The imports of the overall petroleum group decreased by 1.26 percent during the first half of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.
The total imports of the petroleum group during July-December 2025 were recorded at 7,986.454 million against the imports of $8,088.103 million during the same period of last year.
Among petroleum commodities, the import of petroleum products increased by 5.05 percent, from $ 2,972.480 million last year to $ 3,122.606 million during the first half of the current fiscal year whereas the import of petroleum crude surged by 11.21 percent from $ 2,690.363 million to $ 2,991.883million.
The imports of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) decreased by 28.10 percent from $ 1,889.132 million last year to $1,358,307 million while the import of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) went down by 4.18 per cent during the period and stood at $ 513.537 million as compared  to $535.929 million  in the corresponding month of last year.
Meanwhile, on year on year basis, the PoL imports increased by 0.31 percent and was recorded at $ 1,570.275 million in December 2025 compared to $1,565.483 million in December 2024.
On month-on-month basis, the petroleum group imports increased by 23.99 percent in December 2025 when compared to the imports of $ 1,266.419 million in November 2025.
