ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted two-day protective bail to Advocate Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in a case registered under the provisions of attempted murder, terrorism and damage to government property.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, while granting protective bail on bonds of Rs 10,000, ordered the accused to approach the relevant court within two days.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan heard the application for protective bail of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in a case registered at Kohsar Police Station during a protest outside the National Press Club. A large number of lawyers, including the president and secretary of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, appeared in the court along with Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha.
Advocate Kamran Murtaza said that there is an old FIR registered on the July 27 incident, after which she appeared in the courts dozens of times. If Imaan Mazari was to be arrested, the prosecution would have arrested her first. After getting bail from this court, the police came to arrest her in an old case that she was not aware of.
The FIR mentions firing, while the lawyer did not even touch the pistol.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan asked, “Are you seeking protective bail?” Kamran Murtaza said that he is not only seeking protective bail in this case, but also in the case that he is not aware of. The court said that he is currently granting protective bail only in the file that is before me. Kamran Murtaza said that he has brought court decisions with him, there are court precedents that protection was given in cases that were not aware of.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan said, “Please give me a copy of it, I will take a look. Currently, I am granting protective bail only in this case.”
