PESHAWAR, Jan 21 (APP):A four-day sports festival was organized for orphans and destitute children under the auspices of the Sports Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Model Institute for State Children Zamong kor Charsadda Road, Peshawar began here on Wednesday.
Various sports competitions and recreational activities will be displayed in the event. The special guest of the opening ceremony of the sports festival was Advisor to KP CM on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand.
On this occasion, Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Asif Khan, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, Director Zamong kor Sadaqatullah, Deputy Director Riaz Khan, Additional DG Sports Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch and other important personalities were also present.
At the opening ceremony, the children of Zamong kor presented a magnificent display of martial arts and traditional dance, which was greatly appreciated by the participants.
Addressing the ceremony, Advisor on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand said that it was a great joy to see the smiles on the faces of the children, which is difficult to describe in words.
He said that all the children present here are our own children because their responsibility lies with the state and the provincial government will leave no stone unturned for their welfare.
He said that such activities play an important role in attracting children towards extracurricular activities. These children do not lack any talent and the provincial government is providing them with full attention, which will continue in the future.
He said that the main purpose of organizing sports is to provide entertainment opportunities to children as well as highlight their talent.
The Sports Advisor further said that in the future, inter-school games, minority games, under-21 games and transgender games will also be organized.
On this occasion, Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Director Zamong Kor also spoke and said that it is very important to pay attention to orphans and helpless children, because these children are also an important part of the society and they should also get equal opportunities.
In the four-day sports festival, boys and girls of Zamong Kor, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat Campus, DI Khan Campus. and more than 500 children from Khpal Kor Swat, SOS and other orphan children’s institutions are participating in competitions such as cricket, football, badminton, kabaddi, basketball, tug-of-war, athletics, volleyball and musical chairs.
