Ambassador Ladislav Steinhubel stresses boosting Pakistan–Czech trade

SIALKOT, Jan 21 (APP):Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Pakistan Ladislav Steinhubel has underscored a need for further strengthening trade ties between Czech Republic and Pakistan for enhancing bilateral trade volume.
He expressed these views during an important meeting with the Sialkot business community at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Auditorium, here on Wednesday.
President SCCI Ahtesham Mazhar, Senior Vice President SCCI Muhammad Murad Arshad, VP SCCI Salman Sheikh, Deputy Head Mission Michaela Chrtova and Sialkot business community were also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, discussions were held on enhancing bilateral trade, exchange of business delegations, technical and skills transfer, and strengthening institutional linkages between trade bodies of both countries.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the industrial excellence and export potential of Sialkot and assured full support from the Czech Republic in facilitating and expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Pakistan said that joint efforts were direly needed at this juncture for promotion and expansion of bilateral trade between the two friendly countries.
He suggested that businessmen engaged with these industries should visit Czech Republic and ascertain the demand of Pakistani products and their visit also helps in developing direct interaction with the business community.
The envoy asked the chamber to constitute a trade delegation for visiting Czech Republic as there are many opportunities for developing direct trade relations between the two countries.
?The exchange of trade delegations between Czech Republic and Pakistan would definitely pave the way for enhancing the volume of bilateral trade, he added.
Ambassador said that last year 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Czech Republic was celebrated.
?The Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new avenues of partnership built on mutual respect and friendship.
He said that the entrepreneurs of both countries should know each other more and work hard to expand trade and economic relations while he assured that his embassy would fully cooperate in such efforts.
?On this occasion, President SCCI Ahtesham Mazhar in his welcome address said that the Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia, were established in 1950, and have continued uninterrupted following the establishment of the Czech Republic in 1993. Over the years, bilateral relations have evolved into a strong and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
?President SCCI said that the Pakistan’s exports to the Czech Republic include traditional and value-added products including textiles, rice, leather, cutlery, and surgical and sports goods, while Czech exports to Pakistan primarily comprise sophisticated machinery and industrial equipment. In recent years, a noticeable increase in bilateral trade has been observed, particularly in Pakistan’s exports, largely attributable to GSP Plus.
?He said that as per the data made available by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the total bilateral trade and services between the two countries in the Financial year 2025 were around US $88.365 (M) and there is great potential of both countries to explore avenues of collaborations and exchange of expertises to enhance the bilateral trade.
