ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):Director General Bulgaria News Agency (BTA) Kiril Valchev met Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Muhammad Asim Khichi here on Wednesday and discussed ways to explore media cooperation between the two news agencies.
During a visit to APP Headquarters along with Bulgarian Ambassador Irena Gancheva, the DG BTA was given a detailed briefing about the professional working of APP.
MD APP Khichi gave an overview of the agency’s news operations carried out through its multilingual services.
He highlighted APP’s extensive editorial network, comprising its headquarters in Islamabad, regional bureaus, stations, foreign correspondents and a wide pool of part-time reporters across the country.
He said APP had inked news exchange agreements with state-run news agencies of over 50 countries, which contributed towards strengthening Pakistan’s narrative at international level.
The DG BTA briefed about the news operation of his news agency including its digital services.
He expressed keen interest in close media cooperation with APP. He also proposed a journalist exchange programme for close collaboration between both news agencies.
The MD APP presented a shield to the DG BTA as memento to his first-ever visit to the country’s state news agency.
The delegation toured different news sections of APP including Central News Desk, Data Centre and Studios. Executive Director Sabeen Usman Khattak and Director News Shumaila Andleeb were present.
