QUETTA, Jan 20 (APP):Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti held a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the restoration of the railway system in Balochistan, the launch of the People’s Train Service, and various joint venture projects were discussed in detail.
An agreement in principle was reached on launching joint development projects, including the People’s Train Service in Balochistan.
Chief Minister Bugti announced that Rs1.4 billion would be released this week for the implementation of the People’s Train Service in Quetta.
Hanif Abbasi said on this occasion that for the first time in the 78-year history of Pakistan Railways, a historic decision has been made at the provincial level for devolution, which is a strong example of trust and cooperation between the federation and the provinces.
He said that the three provinces showed interest in the local railway services projects, however, Balochistan took the practical leadership, which is a testament to the effective leadership and clear vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
Hanif Abbasi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the railways in Balochistan are moving forward under a modern, effective and sustainable strategy.
While describing the People’s Train Service as a beautiful combination of mutual cooperation between Pakistan Railways and the Balochistan government, the Federal Minister said that this project would prove to be a milestone in providing affordable, safe and quality travel facilities to the people.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the Balochistan government is keen on rapid and practical progress on the People’s Train Service project.
He clarified that the construction of new railway stations and the Balochistan government would provide the required resources for the up-gradation of the existing infrastructure.
