ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP):The National Assembly on Tuesday granted leave to introduce a constitutional amendment bill aimed at ensuring protection of women’s inheritance rights and referred it to the relevant standing committee for further deliberation.
During the proceedings, Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah asked for details of the proposed legislation.
MNA Naima Kishwar Khan informed the House that the bill was based on recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology and sought to provide constitutional protection to ensure women were not deprived of their lawful share in inheritance.

The House subsequently approved the motion to grant leave to introduce the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposing the insertion of Article 24A.
