KARACHI, Jan 19 (APP):Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that following the fire at Rescue Gul Plaza, rescue and relief operations continued uninterrupted, and the entire provincial administration remained actively engaged at all times.
He said that the Chief Minister of Sindh has granted full powers to the Commissioner Karachi to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident. Only after the completion of the investigation it will be determined what caused the fire and who is responsible.
Memon said that effective arrangements are indispensable to deal with any emergency situation in all public properties and high-rise buildings.He added that fire brigade vehicles remained continuously present at the site and that the rescue operation continuef without interruption.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the martyrdom of a rescue official, Furqan, during the rescue operations is proof that institutions are performing their duties with full commitment and dedication.
He said that those involved in politicizing the tragedy and making baseless allegations should act with wisdom during such critical moments. Blame and accusations are not solutions to problems; rather, there is a need for all concerned to step forward and cooperate in relief efforts.
Memon said that the fire has been completely brought under control, while the cooling process is still ongoing. However, it is premature at this stage to make any definitive statement about the internal condition of the building.
He said that there is no substitute for the precious lives lost, and that the government’s top priority has been the safe rescue of affected individuals. The provincial minister assured the business community that the government stands by them regarding the losses incurred and that they will not be left alone.
He added that in the past as well, the Sindh government has supported the business community, and today the government continues to stand fully with them.
The government will compensate for the losses suffered by the business community and provide all possible assistance. He said that the final assessment of losses can only be determined after the completion of the investigation.
