UAJK inaugurates program for enhancing managerial, governance, professional competencies of university administrators

MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 19 (APP):The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) on Monday formally inaugurated the National Outreach Program for University Management at its City Campus, launching a five-day capacity-building initiative in collaboration with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), aimed at enhancing managerial, governance, and professional competencies of university administrators.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, UAJK, Prof. Dr Nasir Jamal Khattak, reaffirmed the university’s strong commitment to continuous professional development, institutional excellence, and alignment with national higher education priorities. He emphasized that effective university management, grounded in professionalism and ethical governance, is essential for sustainable academic growth and public trust.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that universities play a leading role in society and stressed the importance of effective time management at all institutional levels.
Earlier, the Guest of Honour, Muhammad Saleem Qammar, Deputy Director, National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, highlighted HEC’s strategic focus on enhancing governance, leadership, and managerial effectiveness across higher education institutions through structured and need-based capacity-building programs.
Subsequently, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Prof. Dr Javed Iqbal, underlined the importance of quality assurance, professional competence, and continuous learning in improving institutional performance and service delivery in universities.
In his welcome address, the Training Coordinator and Director of Students’ Financial Aid, Sardar Zafar Iqbal, highlighted the objectives and significance of the National Outreach Program, stating that the initiative aims to equip university professionals with modern administrative skills required to meet evolving institutional and governance challenges.
Representing the participants, Dr Mubashar Naqvi, Public Relations Officer, shared collective expectations from the training, emphasizing the need for practical learning, effective communication, ethical governance, and strategic thinking in higher education administration.
The ceremony was moderated by Afshan Munir, Assistant Director Planning, UAJK.
Following the inaugural session, the first day of the program commenced with a comprehensive module on “Professional Communication and Office Procedures.” The sessions were conducted by Dr Zonaib Tahir from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, who provided in-depth training on verbal and non-verbal communication, professional correspondence, presentation skills, report writing, official meetings, agenda formulation, and preparation of minutes. The sessions focused on improving communication effectiveness, minimizing administrative delays, and strengthening coordination within university systems.
The five-day National Outreach Program for University Management, organized by UAJK in collaboration with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), HEC, will cover key areas including professional communication, leadership and team building, ethical public governance, public sector financial and project management, artificial intelligence for smart governance, and strategic planning for institutional growth.
