RAWALPINDI, Jan 16 (APP):The 40th batch of the Friends of Police internship programme concluded at the Rawalpindi Police Lines Headquarters on Friday.
Students from various educational institutions participated in the two-week programme, during which senior police officers delivered lectures on police working and different areas of policing, a police spokesman said.
He said the interns were briefed on police station functioning, police facilitation centres, front desks, various police applications, traffic policing, and legal and judicial procedures.
As part of the programme, the students were taken on study visits to special initiative police stations, the Police Lines Headquarters, the Command and Control Room, Traffic Headquarters, Police Khidmat Markaz Liaquat Bagh and the Legal Branch to provide them with practical exposure to policing.
The spokesman said the students and youth participating in the internship programme would be engaged in police awareness campaigns, adding that the younger generation could play an important role in improving police working and service delivery.
He said the programme aimed to involve citizens, particularly students, in effective policing, crime prevention, counter-narcotics efforts and community policing.
At the concluding ceremony, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Admin) Shahida Yasmin distributed certificates among the participating students.
