ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP):Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, has marked a major breakthrough in its network modernization drive by deploying the country’s first 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps) per-wavelength capacity on its optical transport network.
The achievement comes in collaboration with its strategic technology partner, Huawei, underscoring a new benchmark in high-speed connectivity infrastructure.
This landmark achievement highlights Jazz’s unwavering commitment to building a high-capacity, resilient, and future-ready digital infrastructure, designed to support next-generation services, exponential data growth, and evolving enterprise and consumer demands across Pakistan.
In another industry-first achievement, Jazz has successfully implemented Pakistan’s first-ever deployment of 100 Gbps on Fiber-to-the-Site (FTTS) ring. This landmark implementation demonstrates Jazz’s leadership in advancing optical access networks, enabling ultra-high-speed connectivity for enterprise services, mobile backhaul, and next-generation digital applications.
The 1.2 Tbps per wavelength deployment significantly enhances Jazz’s core and aggregation network layers, ensuring seamless scalability to support rapid growth in data consumption, cloud services, 5G evolution, and hyperscale traffic. Meanwhile, the 100 Gbps FTTS deployment strengthens the performance, capacity, and resilience of the last-mile Fiber infrastructure.
Commenting on the achievement, Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said: “The deployment of Pakistan’s first 1.2 Tbps per wavelength on our optical network, together with the country’s first-ever 100 Gbps deployment on FTTS ring, represents two major technological milestones for Jazz. These achievements highlight the strength and scalability of our network architecture, enabling us to efficiently support future technologies, rapidly increasing traffic volumes, and demanding enterprise use cases, while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and performance.”
These milestones reflect Jazz’s long-term commitment to building a world-class digital infrastructure for Pakistan. By continuously strengthening our network, we are enabling innovation, accelerating digital inclusion, and supporting the country’s evolving connectivity needs.”
These advancements reaffirm Jazz’s leadership in network modernization and its focus on adopting cutting-edge optical and transport technologies. By continuously upgrading its infrastructure, Jazz remains well-positioned to support Pakistan’s digital transformation and the growing demand for high-speed, reliable connectivity.
