ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP):Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has lauded the Railway Police Sargodha for their exemplary performance and honesty after they safely recovered and returned Rs 1.1 million to a passenger.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rana Zulfiqar of the Railway Police found a suspicious bag near a water cooler on the platform at Sargodha Railway Station during a routine search, said a news release issued here.
Upon the inspection, the bag was found to contain cash amounting to Rs 1.1 million.
The money belonged to a passenger, Fazal Rahim, a resident of Abbottabad, who was traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi aboard the Hazara Express.
The passenger had briefly disembarked at Sargodha Railway Station to fill water from the cooler and inadvertently left behind the bag containing the cash.
The Railway Police promptly traced the owner, and in the presence of the Station House Officer (SHO), completed due verification before handing over the recovered amount to the passenger.
Fazal Rahim expressed his gratitude to the Railway Police for their honesty and professionalism.
The minister commended ASI Rana Zulfiqar and the Sargodha Railway Police team for setting a high standard of integrity and dedication to duty, saying that such acts enhance public trust in law enforcement institutions.
