ISLAMABAD, Jan 14 (APP):The Chief Justice of Pakistan, who also serves as President of the Advisory Board of the Al-Mizan Foundation, on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing projects of the Foundation.
The meeting was attended by Justice (R) Mushir Alam, former Judge SCP and Chairman of the Committee of Administration, Justice (R) Muhammad Tariq Abbasi, Vice Chairman, and the Secretary of the Al-Mizan Foundation.
The discussion centred on the Foundation’s welfare mandate and its alignment with sound policy, governance standards, and long-term financial sustainability. Established in 1995, the Al-Mizan Foundation functions as a welfare institution providing structured support to serving and retired judges of the district judiciary, court staff, and their families, including dependents of deceased beneficiaries. Its operations follow a defined governance framework to ensure transparency, accountability, and institutional continuity.
The forum reviewed major policy and administrative issues affecting the delivery of welfare services, including asset management, contractual and legal matters, financial compliance, and taxation requirements. Special focus was placed on adopting sustainable policy strategies to optimise institutional assets and ensure that welfare initiatives—particularly in areas such as health, education, and employee facilitation—remain efficient, resilient, and responsive to emerging needs.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan appreciated the forward-looking leadership of Justice (R) Mushir Alam, noting that his stewardship has strengthened governance, improved policy coherence, and enhanced the institutional integrity of the Al-Mizan Foundation. He also acknowledged the contribution of Zia ur Rehman, Secretary of the Foundation, praising his professional diligence, administrative capability, and reform-oriented approach.
The meeting observed that the clarity of vision and disciplined oversight during this important phase of institutional consolidation have significantly enhanced the Foundation’s credibility, responsiveness, and long-term sustainability as a welfare institution.
