KP Minister briefed on Tobacco Development Cess–Funded initiatives

PESHAWAR, Jan 14 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan briefed on development initiatives proposed to be funded under the Tobacco Development Cess (TDC) on Wednesday.
The meeting was held in the committee room of the Planning and Development Department and was attended by Member Provincial Assembly from Mardan Abdul Salam Afridi, Secretary Planning and Development Syed Adil Shah and other relevant officials.
During the briefing, the provincial minister was informed about the proposed projects program and development initiatives under the Tobacco Development Cess, including their key features and workable implementation formats.
The consultative meeting aimed to seek guidance, input and recommendations on the development schemes to be launched under the TDC, with a view to aligning them with local development priorities and ensuring their effective execution.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan said that utilizing resources generated from tobacco for sustainable development of the concerned districts, improvement of basic facilities and public welfare projects was among the top priorities of the provincial government.
He emphasized that special focus should be given to education, health and other essential sectors in Buner, ensuring that the funded projects have tangible and meaningful impacts in line with the needs of the local population.
Relevant officers also gave a detailed presentation on the key components included in the proposed Tobacco Development Cess program, while the provincial minister shared valuable suggestions, which will be incorporated into the final planning process.
