ISLAMABAD, Jan 14 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA)
notified the implementation of the 10 percent need-based scholarship/free education policy across all private educational institutions in the federal capital, with priority allocation for orphan children and children of martyrs (Shuhadas).
According to the notification issued by ICT-PEIRA, the directive has been enforced in line with the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012.
The authority has made it mandatory for all private schools and colleges to give first priority to orphans and martyrs’ children while granting admissions under the 10% free education quota, ensuring that the most deserving segments of society benefit from the policy.
Furthermore, all private educational institutions have been directed to submit complete and verified details of orphan and Shuhada students enrolled under the free education policy by January 20, 2026, to the office of ICT-PEIRA.
ICT-PEIRA has warned that strict legal action will be initiated against non-compliant institutions under the relevant provisions of the ICT-PEIRA Act, 2013.
The move is being seen as a significant step toward promoting inclusive education and honoring the sacrifices of martyrs by safeguarding the educational future of their children.
