ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday during a review meeting of current wheat stocks in the country was apprised by the committee that the federal government currently holds about 2 million metric tons of wheat, which can be released to provinces as needed to meet demand.
The deputy prime minister held a meeting to review Pakistan’s current wheat stocks, a DPM’s Office news release said.
The DPM/FM took note of the committee’s briefing regarding the satisfactory levels of wheat reserves in the country.
DPM Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and the timely distribution of wheat across Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary of Food, Chief Secretary Punjab, TCP officials & senior officials from the relevant ministries.
