Cold, dry weather to persist across Pakistan, dense fog likely in plains

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather across most parts of the country on Wednesday, with very cold conditions expected in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist over Punjab, upper Sindh, and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially affecting road and air travel.
Frost may occur at isolated places in the Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the morning hours.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, cold and dry weather is expected, with chances of frost at isolated places in the early morning.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cold and dry conditions will prevail in most districts, while hilly areas will experience very cold weather. Moderate to dense fog is likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby areas during morning and night hours.
Punjab will remain cold and dry in most districts, while Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas are expected to experience very cold conditions.
 Dense fog is likely to persist in a large number of districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas. Frost is expected at a few places in the Pothohar region during morning hours.
Sindh is likely to witness cold and dry weather across most districts, with moderate to dense fog expected in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Jam and Mohenjodaro and adjoining areas.
In Balochistan, mainly cold and dry weather is forecast, while northern districts will remain very cold. Fog may develop in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Dera Murad Jamali, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi and Sibbi during morning hours.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience very cold and dry weather, with frost likely at isolated places in Kashmir during the morning.
According to PMD, during the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very cold conditions were recorded in hilly areas.
Frost was observed at isolated places in Kashmir and the Pothohar region, while moderate to dense fog affected many districts of Punjab, upper Sindh and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded included Leh minus 12, Skardu minus 10, Gupis minus 09, Astore minus 08, Gilgit minus 07, Bagrote and Hunza minus 06, and Kalat minus 05.
