ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):Around 20 Sudanese engineers were awarded certificates on Tuesday after successfully completing a specialized technical training program organized jointly by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) and the National University of Technology (NUTECH).
The certificate distribution ceremony was held at the NUTECH campus.
Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Pakistan, graced the occasion as chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, attended as guest of honour.
The event was also attended by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Moazzam Ejaz, HI(M), Rector NUTECH, along with senior officials, academicians, and representatives of partner institutions.
The engineers completed an intensive CAD/CAM/CNC Operations and Machine Building Course, hosted by NUTECH and sponsored and coordinated by COMSTECH as part of its mandate to strengthen technical capacity and promote South-South cooperation among OIC member states.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary said COMSTECH remains committed to promoting human resource development, applied research, and technology transfer across OIC countries. He noted that such initiatives aim to equip young professionals with industry-relevant skills and foster long-term academic and technical collaboration among member states.
The guest of honour, Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, Assistant Secretary-General of the OIC for Science and Technology, appreciated the COMSTECH–NUTECH joint initiative, stating that collaborative training programs play a vital role in strengthening capacity building, promoting scientific cooperation, and enhancing technical expertise among professionals from OIC countries.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Moazzam Ejaz, Rector NUTECH, highlighted the university’s strong focus on hands-on, practice-oriented education aligned with modern industrial needs.
He reaffirmed NUTECH’s commitment, in partnership with COMSTECH, to supporting international capacity-building programs and expressed confidence that the trained engineers would make meaningful contributions to industrial development in Sudan.
The training provided extensive hands-on exposure to modern manufacturing technologies, including computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), CNC machine operations, and machine-building techniques. Participants also worked on advanced industrial equipment such as CNC wood routers, drilling and tapping machines, welding units, aluminium cutting machines, tool grinders, and shaper machines under the supervision of NUTECH’s experienced faculty and technical experts.
In addition to academic training, the Prime Institute of Health Sciences facilitated the stay and welfare arrangements of the Sudanese engineers in Islamabad.
The successful completion of the program reflects COMSTECH’s continued efforts to promote international technical collaboration among OIC countries and further strengthen academic, technical, and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Sudan.
