FCCP to hear Arshad Sharif’s murder case on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) will hear the suo motu case pertaining to the killing of prominent journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya on Wednesday.
The court has sought responses from the federal government and concerned institutions regarding the need for a free, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident.
Notices have been issued to the Ministry of Interior, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), and other relevant authorities.
The case will be heard by a two-member bench of the Federal Constitutional Court, headed by Justice Aamer Farooq, with Justice Rozi Khan Bareech as the second member. The court may also call for reports on the progress of the investigation, international cooperation, and the identification of those responsible.
It may be recalled that Arshad Sharif was killed in October 2022 in a shooting incident in Kenya, an event that sparked widespread concern both nationally and internationally.
