KOHAT, Jan 13 (APP):On the special directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shehbaz Elahi, the police on Tuesday foiled a
major attempt to smuggle a large cache of arms and ammunition during a high-profile operation.
According to the police sources,the MRS police intercepted a suspicious vehicle at the High check post. Upon thorough search,the police recovered a heavy quantity of arms and cartridges concealed in secret compartments of the vehicle. The operation was led by Station House Officer (SHO), Abid Waseem along with his team.
The suspects involved in inter-provincial arms smuggling were taken into custody.
The recovered arms and vehicle were seized, and a formal case was registered at MRS Police Station.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested smugglers confessed to planning to transport the consignment to various cities.
The police said further investigation is underway, while raids are being conducted to
apprehend facilitators and other members of the smuggling network.
In a separate development, the police arrested a proclaimed offender
wanted in a murder case.
The accused namely Khyal Gul was apprehended during routine patrolling in
the Mirchungi area. In-charge Shadi Khel Police Post, Roman Khan,
along with his team, arrested the fugitive, who was wanted in a murder case.
The accused was shifted to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the MRS Police successfully traced and solved a blind
murder case.
Following the complaint lodged by the brother of deceased Amjad, DPO Shehbaz Elahi issued special instructions for immediate investigation.
Following the directives, SHO Abid Waseem and his team utilized modern technology, evidence, and ground intelligence to identify the prime suspect.
During a successful raid, the police arrested the accused and recovered
the Kalashnikov used in the murder.
The suspect has been shifted to MRS Police Station for further interrogation, while all aspects of the
case were being thoroughly examined.
