RAWALPINDI, Jan 12 (APP):Mushaal Hussain Malik, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation and wife of jailed Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik, visited the commercial centre on Murree Road in Rawalpindi on Monday as part of a public outreach campaign for her husband’s release.
She was accompanied by her daughter and sister, along with senior members of the Traders Association of Punjab, including President Sharjeel Mir, Rabi Centre President Sami Khan and Adnan Khan.
During the campaign, the participants distributed pamphlets highlighting the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and briefed the public on Yasin Malik’s legal cases.
Speaking to the media, Mushaal Malik said Kashmir was a sensitive region and actions against the Kashmiri leadership could affect the regional situation. She urged the United Nations and other international organisations to play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions and ensuring the protection of human rights.
She said Yasin Malik had renounced violence in the past and adopted a peaceful political struggle, yet continued to face legal proceedings. She called on the international community to take effective steps to promote peace and stability in the region.
During the campaign, the participants also chanted slogans in support of Yasin Malik and in solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
