Six policemen martyred, three injured in IED attacks in Tank, Lakki Marwat

PESHAWAR, Jan 12 (APP):At least six police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were martyred and three others injured in separate improvised explosive device (IED) attacks targeting police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank and Lakki Marwat districts on Monday.
According to police, the first incident occurred in Gomal area of Tank, about 25 kilometers from Kot Wali, where an IED struck a police armoured personnel carrier (APC). The powerful explosion completely destroyed the vehicle.
According to police, six personnel were martyred in the blast, including SHO Gomal Station Ishaq Ahmed Khan, ASI Sher Aslam Khan, driver Abdul Majeed, Arshad Ali, Hazrat Ali and Ehsanullah.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and injured to nearby hospitals.
In a separate incident in Lakki Marwat, an IED exploded near Dara Tang bridge within the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station. As a result, SHO Saddar Razzaq Khan and two other police personnel sustained injuries. Initial reports suggest the explosive material had been planted near the bridge.
The attack occurred at a time when the District Police Officer (DPO) was on a tour of police check-posts and was expected to pass through the same route.
It is noteworthy that a lawyer was reportedly abducted by unidentified armed men from the same area a day earlier.
Meanwhile, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the attack on the Tank police APC and sought an immediate report from senior officials. Expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and their colleagues, he said the brave sons of the province embraced martyrdom while protecting the lives and property of the public.
The governor added that such acts of violence would not weaken the resolve of law enforcement agencies and urged the provincial government to take concrete steps to ensure lasting peace in the province.
