ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP):Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (FE&PT), Nadeem Mahbub, reviewed progress of the teacher development initiative under the National Institute of Excellence in Teacher Education (NIETE), during a meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Project Coordination Unit (PCU) teams.
NIETE Project Director, Riffat Jabeen, highlighted the continuous professional development of FDE primary teachers through an evidence-based, technology-enabled approach, detailing structured training, certification, and progress against targets and timelines through the NIETE app.
Underscoring the importance of quality teaching, the Secretary directed the team to accelerate implementation.
He also interacted with the NIETE coaches and trainers, appreciating their on-ground efforts, acknowledging their role in improving classroom practices, and encouraging innovation and commitment.
The Secretary was also briefed on the Rumi app, an AI teaching companion on WhatsApp, which is being piloted in FDE schools and empowers teachers with several features including; Quick, ready-to-use lesson plans in under 90 seconds,
Real-time classroom strategies and engagement tips, Voice-first interaction for busy schedules, Multilingual support: English, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, Personalized coaching and progress tracking, Lesson delivery assessment and reading evaluation through teacher’s voice recordings, providing actionable feedback for improvement
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening teaching quality and building a more effective, responsive education system.
