ISLAMABAD, Jan 11 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to inquire after the injured of the G-7/2 gas blast, in which the bride, groom and six other family members lost their lives while several others were injured.
A police spokesperson told APP on Sunday that senior police officers accompanied the IGP Rizvi during the visit. The IGP directed hospital officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for all injured persons and assured the affected families of full support from Islamabad Police.
According to rescue officials, a strong gas leakage caused an explosion inside a double-storey house where wedding preparations were underway. The blast brought the roof down, trapping multiple family members and neighbours under the debris. Rescue teams pulled out over nineteen people during the operation.
The spokesperson said police, district administration, Rescue 1122, CDA Fire teams and local volunteers worked together throughout the all day. The entire area was cordoned off, heavy machinery was deployed to remove debris, and K-9 units were used to ensure no one remained trapped.
IGP Rizvi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. He said Islamabad Police will continue to support the victims and that an inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and prevent similar incidents in the future./APP-rzr-mkz
