MULTAN, Jan 10 (APP):The Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation has announced that the Asian Mas-Wrestling Championship 2026 will be hosted in Lahore from May 10 to 15, bringing together leading athletes from across the continent to compete in one of Asia’s fastest-growing traditional sports.
President of the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation and Vice President of the Asian Mas-Wrestling Federation, Nawab Furqan Khan, said Pakistan was honoured to host the prestigious championship in Lahore. He described the event as a significant opportunity for national athletes to demonstrate their strength, skill, and dedication at the continental level. He urged aspiring wrestlers to begin preparations for the national trials and represent Pakistan with pride, adding that the championship would help showcase Pakistan’s talent and Mas-Wrestling tradition to Asia and the world.
According to the federation, trials for Team Pakistan will be held in the last week of March 2026. In the senior category (18+), three teams will represent Pakistan, while two teams will compete in the youth category (16–17 years).
The weight divisions include senior men’s categories of 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 105, 125, and 125+ kg, and senior women’s categories of 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 85, and 85+ kg. Youth men’s divisions will be 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 90, and 90+ kg, while youth women’s divisions will include 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 70+ kg.
The Absolute Category will feature men weighing 90 kg and above and women weighing 75 kg and above. The main competition is scheduled to take place in Lahore on May 13 and 14, 2026.
In a press release issued here, the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation called upon athletes and relevant departments to make full preparations for the championship and proudly project Pakistan’s strength and sporting talent on the Asian stage.
